Cabarete Camp and more

After the Triple S I got to stay 3 more days in Hatteras and got to spend time with our President Ian, with Kian our Operating Officer, Jeff our Sales Manager and one of our Investors Russel who all came to Hatteras to either enjoy Kiteboarding or to learn how to Kitesurf.
It was great to see or get to know everybody and we were having a fun time. The evening before I left we even had a little BEST and REAL BBQ and so I got to say good bye to everyone in a nice way. I can only tell you, I took a lot of nice pictures those 3 days, always having in mind to make Stacey happy and laugh, because I know she loves good reports so much. But it was not meant to be… As Ian somehow decided to spray our camera while wakeboarding and all the pictures are gone… I bet he did not want those pictures of him published… But really, he could have told me that and I am sure we could have agreed in another way… ;-) Anyways, we were laughing a lot about this little incident and I am happy that now I have something that I can tease Ian with (as he still keeps reminding me of my little Buggy lagoon accident)! Only I am still sorry for Stacey as I don’t have any pictures at all now… hope she is not going to be to disappointed or is even going to send me the “bad picture” for that!
Oh well, after Hatteras we flew to Cabarete. With some little problems with American Airlines and a missed connection flight in Miami we made it there a day late (and I missed the shooting with Gavin in La Bocca). That also made me being late for the clinic with Laurel and I was worried in the beginning, but it turned out great in the end. We were all just hanging out at the center, almost everybody got to try my Yarga 9 (which they were super excited about!) we got to kite together every single day and not only Laurels 12 instructors seemed to enjoy it a lot but also all the customers were having great fun. One evening we had a big dinner all together at “Pitu” and the on my last day we got together all the girls (12 of us in total) for a girls Downwinder in memories of Silke Gorldt. In the beginning I was not quite sure if it would come out the way we wanted it, as the only girls that ever got to know Silke were Laurel and me… but then we had a little ceremony for Silke just before we went downwind to Enquentro and Laurel and I told the girls about what great of a person and how special Silke was and shared our memories with them. This was really so moving and all the girls shared our feelings so much that it really was special. We had picked some flowers before and each took a hand full, walked into the water all together and threw the flowers into the sea for Silke, a few moments of silence and then we had the best downwinder together.... An event that I will not forget too soon and that really warmed my heart. I so wish Silke could have been there, but am sure her soul was with us.
Another moving and special event those days in Cabarete was Ben Meyers and Jills wedding. Not only did they have the most perfect wedding in beautiful scenery and with wonderful people, but also were the feelings shared between the 2 of them so strong that everyone could feel them and cried at least ones during the day. Their families and all their friends (75 people flew into the DR) celebrated the happiest day of their lives with them and everybody was incredibly happy!
And even if I only had 5 days to spend in the Dominican Republic it was so worth it to go there for all what happened there. I would like to thank Laurel for accommodating us so nicely and for all her help, support and great work! I really hope we can do that again next year!
I am in Germany now for 3 days… actually being sick and sitting at the doctor at the moment… and will be going to Italy on Sunday for the first KPWT of the season… hopefully going to feel better by then! All the best for now, Kristin
