Anual Girls Camp 2008 - Wustrow/Germany
05.08.08

For the past 5 year I was never really lucky with the conditions for my girls camp. Most of the times there was wind for only one day or even just a few hours. Last year we even had no wind at all but rain every day. So we all could not believe that this year we had the best conditions possible: constant 15-20 knots and sunshine every single day!

With 25 girls even the number of participants was an all time record in my this years "motivation and fun" camp that was as always free of charge for all the girls. It seemed like simply all the stars aligned and we were going to have a great weekend.

On Friday the 1st of August we all met up at 11 in the morning in our Event Tent that was sponsored by the Silke Gorldt Foundation. The event was kicked of with some awesome swag bags for all the girls provided by Colgate, Maui Magic and Kite-boarding.de. Everybody introduced themselves and got to know each other a bit before we all headed off to the beach for our first of what would become many sessions throughout the weekend! On the water everyone helped each other and pushed each other to try new tricks. New moves were being learned left and right and I did my best to coach the girls through any issues they were having, riding behind them and giving them tips or leading by example. Unbelievable but true, after 3 awesome days of riding almost every girl had reached her goal and learned at least one new trick. Here again, by far the best Girls Camp we had in 6 years of running it.Also the evenings were filled with fun as we were having dinner in the beer garden together on the first, and a BBQ on the second evening. Not only lots of beer but also some stronger drinks were consumed and we laughed a lot and got to know each other even better. As always I very much enjoyed this weekend. It is always so great to see how helpfulthe girls are and how much they enjoy to get together and to kite together. Also italways is a big reward for me to see how happy and thankful they are. On top of thatfor these few days a year I get to camp out in my van and enjoy the great outdoors. It takes me back to my roots and makes me also think about the good old times with Silke and I hope I can not only somehow make her spirit live further with this event, but also give something back to the sport that she loved and I still enjoy so much.
