windy camp pushes girls to new levels
Wustrow (08.04.2008) The 25 girls taking part in Kristin Boeses annual Girls Camp in Wustrow/Germany could be more than happy about the perfect conditions the last weekend brought them. From Friday to Sunday the wind was blowing with constant 15-20 knots. In addition the sun was shining as well for an extra great atmosphere between the girls and on the water. The official meet and greet took part at Surfcenter Wustrow on Friday morning at 11pm. The Event Tent put up here by the Silke Gorldt Foundation was going to be the base camp for the girls and their adventures at the same time. After the girls had all received the swag bags provided by Colgate, Maui Magic, Kite-boarding.de and Print EU the action on the water was about to start and the big convoi made their way to Dierhagen. In both spots, Dierhagen and Saal, that were used for the clinics the water is shallow and quite flat at the same time - just perfect for learning and trying new moves. With tips and tricks from World Champion Kristin Boese the girls all got an extra kick of motivation and almost all participants reached their goals of learning one or more new moves. Kiting together the girls really pushed themselves to the next level. "Finally I dared to try some backloop kiteloop transitions - and this even though I am chicken!" says Claudia Dahmen from Berlin.
Kristin about the camp 2008: "I was so pleased that the wind and weather were finally with us after we were not so lucky over the past few years. This year we really had plenty of time on the water and it was easy for me to ride with everyone, watch them try new tricks and help them with some little tips here and there. It was awesome to see how happy they all were to kite together and how much they motivated each other. Even out of the water everybody was super helpfull and enjoying each others company. This years camp was definitely the best so far and I really enjoyed it!"
One thing is sure - in 2009 the already 7th annual girls camp with Kristin will take place. Together with the Silke Gorldt Foundation the camp will become even bigger and more professional. A cooperation for the future is agreed.
