Kristin Boese says: "I believe that kiteboarding would be the perfect addition to the Olympic Sailboat classes. It is spectacular, transports a young and dynamic image and offers huge potential as a media and spectator sport."

The IKA too fervently believes that the discipline of kiteboarding should be included within the Olympic Sailing Competition from 2016 onwards and starts its Olympic campaign with an amazing array of ambassadors. Boese is joined by personalities like Virgin Chairman Sir Richard Branson, Venture Capitalist Bill Tai, 2-time Olympic Medalist Michael Gebhard and many more.
 
Richard Branson, an avid kiteboarder himself, who hosted the first annual "Kite Jam" event on his private Necker Island earlier this year says: "Kiteboarding is a fun and spectacular sport that I think would make a tremendously exciting addition to the Olympic Games."
 
Markus Schwendtner, Executive Secretary of the IKA states: "It is important for us to showcase that kiteboarding is a worldwide movement with the support of personalities from in- and outside the sport. Sir Richard Branson is a great example for how to spread the message of kiteboarding through fantastic ventures. Kristin Boese, the world's most successful female kiteboarder, brings kiteboarding to the masses through various media projects. Kiteboarding enthusiast and Venture Capitalist Bill Tai spreads the message of the sport through his network around the world. This is what our Olympic Ambassadors are standing for, an integration of sport and society".
 
The International Olympic Committee stated at the 2009 Olympic Congress in Copenhagen that the Olympic Movement must strive to reach out to youth around the world.
 
Kiteboarding believes it is the "perfect fit" since it is a young and dynamic sport with the ability to capture a broad audience.
 
To further support the Olympic campaign of kiteboarding and to help assure a strong field of female competitors will be ready to compete in the Rio de Janeiro games, Boese is conducting her KB4girls worldwide tour which reaches out to women to embrace the sport.

About Kristin Boese

Sports model Kristin Boese, Guinness World Record™ record-holder and nine-time world kiteboarding champion reaches out to girls around the world to sharpen their skills and learn new riding tricks. The 32-year-old from Potsdam, Germany, grew up behind the iron curtain. A stellar student, Kristin showed interest in a wide variety of sports and ended up playing semi-professional handball for 12 years.
In summer 2002 she discovered kite-boarding and within a few months left Germany behind on her way to Fuerteventura/Spain to work at a kite and windsurf center and to dive into the sport which she has very successfully done since.
 
Boese has also written two instructional kite-boarding books with Christian Spreckels "Kitesurfing In The Waves: The Complete Guide" and "Kitesurfing: The Complete Guide." She has also published a DVD "Kitesurfing - a comprehensive guide with world champion Kristin Boese." This is a complete learning program for kitesurfers of all levels.
 
About KB4girls
 
KB4girls is a non-profit worldwide clinic tour for female kiteboarders that was launched in November 2009 by Kristin Boese.
 
While the tour gives female athletes from around the world the chance to get together for a fun time together it also motivates them to push their kiteboarding skills to the next level and possibly start to compete in kiteboarding.
 
Another goal of the KB4girls events is to support the Surfrider Foundation Europe and the protection of the oceans and beaches. While registration fees are being donated to the Foundation educational materials are being supplied in return and given out to all participating girls, teaching them about their precious playgrounds and how to possibly help to protect them.

About IKA
 
The International Kiteboarding Association is an International Class Association of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). Its responsibility, amongst others, is to manage the global administration of the sport and combining world events into one united ranking.
 
The IKA is providing a framework for national associations and competitions through continental series up to the PKRA world tour.

The audience could watch a number of exciting races while the sun was shining from a blue sky. The races are to be continued on Tuesday. 115 participants from 22 nations have registered for the Palmolive Kitesurf World Cup in Sankt-Peter-Ording. They compete in the disciplines Freestyle, Course Racing and Big Air. This event is one of the stops of the PKRA World Tour 2010 and the only tour stop in Germany.
